Portfolio Appraisal

The Portfolio Appraisal section of the Quarterly Report is the section which shows all the assets you own. The assets are organized first into asset classes, then sectors, and finally the individual stocks, exchange-traded funds, bonds, and cash that you own. The report displays a myriad of information depending on the type of asset; below we will review the details:

The Equities section contains the following information from left to right:

  • Name of the security (ex. “COCA-COLA CO COM”)
  • Number of shares owned
  • The market value of the security
  • Price of the asset
  • Weighting or “allocation” of that particular asset as compared to the total portfolio
  • The current dividend yield on the asset

The Fixed Income section contains the following information from left to right:

  • Name of the security (ex. “AMAZON COM INC 2.500% Due 11-29-22”)
  • Par value of the bond displayed here as “Units.”
  • The market value of the security
  • Price of the security
  • Weighting or “allocation” of that particular bond as compared to the total portfolio
  • The yield on current price of the bond – this is not the yield on cost, which is displayed in the next section of the report

The Cash section contains only the following:

  • Market Value
  • Weighting or “allocation” of cash as compared to the total portfolio
